Protein Protein Protein
Breakfast is the most important meal as it sets you up for the day ahead. It is vital that you get the right nutrients into you to suit your appetite and we say protein is best. Protein takes longer for your body to digest and absorb than other nutrients and therefore keeps you fuller for longer. What’s interesting to note is that by consuming lean protein at breakfast time you are more likely to stay satisfied for longer compared to eating it at any other time of the day. Lean bacon, egg whites and low fat yogurt are ideal protein, rich foods to include in your breakfast menu. Not accidentally many diets focus on protein and for a reason.
Fat – It’s Not All Bad
Cutting fat completely out of your diet is not necessarily a good idea and can backfire. Oleic acid is an unsaturated fat that can prove quite useful and effective in appetite suppression. How does it work? During the digestion process this unsaturated fat is converted into a compound that fascinatingly triggers hunger curbing feelings to the brain. Be careful and watch your intake. Unsaturated fats should make up about 20% of your entire daily calorie intake so watch what you eat!
Work Out!
Working out is essential not only to burn calories but to help you crave less of them too. A recent study has shown that one hour of a high intensity cardio workout can help suppress your appetite for up to two hours after your session. How does this happen? The findings determined that aerobic exercise lowers ghrelin levels and increases hunger suppressing hormones in your body. Since we’ve recently rang in the New Year, now is the best time to start gyming it up. New Year, new you!
